Statement Issued in Response to the Decision of the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia Regarding Tigrai’s Constitutional Sovereignty
As a popular force fighting for systemic change in Tigrai, the most important issue motivating us is the collective existential security of the people of Tigrai. We believe that this existential security cannot be guaranteed without respect for territorial sovereignty.
Ensuring Tigrai’s existential security is a cause for which we have fought for generations. Our forefathers paid the ultimate sacrifice to preserve this cherished heritage.
As a movement, our principal goal is to bring about enduring peace rooted in systemic change.
We strongly condemn the decision by the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia, allegedly based on a decision by the House of Federation, regarding the sovereign fate of electoral districts such as Humera and Adi Remets (Western Tigrai); Tselemti (North Western Tigrai); and Korem, Ofla, and Alamata (South Tigrai).
Elections serve as a democratic mechanism to ensure the right to self-determination and self-administration. The decision by the Electoral Board dangerously runs counter to this principle.
All Tigrayans, irrespective of political differences, must unite and struggle peacefully in the political arena to safeguard our sovereignty.
We call upon the relevant federal authorities to rectify this gross miscarriage of justice without delay, recognizing that the decision violates the Pretoria Agreement and is bound to jeopardize the federation’s peace.
We reiterate that Tigrai’s territorial sovereignty is a red line. In light of this, we call upon our friends, allies, and members of the Tigrai Peace Force to continue their steadfast support.
Eternal glory to all our martyrs who paid the ultimate price for Tigrai’s sovereignty.

ብመሠረት ውሳነ ፌዯሬሽን ቤት ምኽሪ ብሄራዊ መረፃ ቦርድ ኢትየጵያ ዘውፅኦ መግለፂ
ዋንነት ርስተ መረበትናን ሉኣላዊ ግዝኣታዊ ሓድነትናን ብዝምልከት ዝወፀ
እዋናዊ ናይ ቅዋም መግለፂ
ከም ሓይሊ ኣብ ትግራይ ሥርዓታዊ ለውጢ ንምምፃእ ክንቃለስ ምኽንያት ካብ ዝኾኑና ወሰንቲን ልዕሊ ምንም ቦታ እንህቦ ዋኒንና ሓዯ ህልውና ተጋሩ እዩ፤ ህልውና ሓዯ ህዝቢ ድማ ብዘይካ ዋንነት ርስተ መረበቱን ግዝኣታዊ ሉኣላዊነቱን ክረጋገፅ ኣይኽእልን ኢልና ኢና ንኣምን።
ከም ተጋሩ ንዘመናት ካብ ዝተቓለስናሎም ዋኒናት ሓዯ እውን እዩ፤ ርስተ መረበትና ኣሕሊፎም ንዘይምሃብ ወለድና፥ ኣሕዋትናን ዯቅናን ክባር መተካእታ ዘይብላ ዋጋ ህይወት ከፊሎም እዮም።
ከም ሓይሊ ሕቶና ሥርዓታዊ ሰላም ዘምፅእ ምችው ፓለቲካዊ ቃልሲ ክፍጠር እዩ፤ መረፃ ቦርድ ኢትዮጵያ ውክልና ተጋሩ ዘይብሉ ፌዯሬሽን ቤት ምኽሪ ዝወሰኖ ውሳነ መሠረት ገይሩ ብዛዕባ ናይ ተጋሩ ርስተ መረበትን ሉኣላዊ ግዝኣት ትግራይ ዝኾኑ ምዕራብ ትግራይ ማለት ሑመራን ዓዲ ረመፅን፥ ሰሜን ምዕራብ ትግራይ ማለት ፀለምቲ፥ ዯቡብ ትግራይ ኮረም ኦፍላ ራያ ኣላማጣ ኣመልኪቱ ዘሕለፎ ውሳነ ከም ሓይሊ ብትሪ ንቃወሞ ምዃንና ንገልፅ።
መረፃ መሰል ዓርሰ ውሳነን ዓርሰ ምሕዯራን ህዝቢ ዝረጋገፀሉ መሥርሕ ዲሞክራሲ እዩ፤ እዚ ውሳነ ድማ እዚ መሰል ዝፃረር ሓዯገኛ ውሳነ ብምዃኑ እውን ኢና ኣትሪርና ንቃወሞ ዘለና።
ተጋሩ ኣብ ዝሃለና ንሃሉ ኣብ ጉዳይ ህላወናን ዋንነት ርስተ መረበትናን ፍፁም ኣፈላላይ ክህልወና ከም ዘይግባእ ተረዲእና ብሰላማዊን ፓለቲካዊን ኣገባብ ቃልሲ ብፅንዓት ነዚ ውሳነ ክንቃለሶ ድማ ይግባእ።
እዚ ውሳነ ሕገ መንግሥቲን ውዕሊ ፕሪቶርያን ብምጥሓስ ሰላም ናይዛ ፌዯራሽንን እዚ ቀጠናን ናብ ፍፁም ሓዯጋ ከም ዘውድቕ ተገንዚቡ ቅልጡፍ መአረምታ ካብ ምግባር ሓሊፉ ሕገ መንግሥቲን ውዕሊ ፕሪቶርያን ዝጠሓሰ ውሳነ ንዘሕለፉ ኣካላት ፌዯራል መንግሥቲ ብሕጊ ክሕተቱ ንክገብር ፃውዒትና ብኣንፅንኦት ነቕርብ።
ከም ሓይሊ ኣብ ጉዳይ ሉኣላዊ ግዝኣታዊ ሓድነትናን ዋንነት ርስተ መረበትናን ቀይሕ መስመርና ከም ዝኾነ ብምርዳእ ኣባልናን ዯጋፊናን ንእንገብሮ ኵለመዳያዊ ብሄራዊ ቃልሲ ድጋፉ ከጠናኽር ከም ዘለዎ ድማ ክነገንዝብ ንፈቱ።
ዘለኣለማዊ ዝኽሪ ክብርን ንስለ ህዝቦምን ርስተ መረበትናን ክብሉ ዋጋ ንዝኸፈሉ ስውኣትና።
