Tegrawot Dialogue to Find Common Ground in Peace building

We don’t need to travel to the edge of the universe to find proof of the treasonous actions of the TPLF leadership and the rogue generals who support it. If my criticism of the TPLF or Sebhat Nega stings, it’s because it is truthful. When someone speaks without thinking or knowing all the facts, they reveal their ignorance and mediocrity to everyone and could damage a person’s reputation in a leadership role.

The situation in Tigray’s administrative structure is very troubling. Usually, people are appointed to senior government roles without support from citizens who promote stability and unity. When respected and well-liked individuals hold these positions, leadership can more effectively implement development initiatives, as the public feels represented by men and women they trust and respect. But that is not happening in Raya, 70 Enderta and Wejerat serve as clear examples of how TPLF is sinking lower by using force against the will of the people.

General Tadesse Werede appears to be following the example of his predecessors. He appoints individuals who are unpopular, secretive, corrupt, or degenerate. The reason is that he wants to be the only shining star in a system filled with mediocre and corrupt appointees. TPLF has either frustrated or pushed out all those who could have become national leaders. So, he now surrounds himself with mediocrity and yes-men, and we suffer as a result under the leadership of such a megalomaniac. There are thousands of qualified Tegrawot, both in Ethiopia and around the world, who are well respected by most Tegrawot and could serve their country much better than the appointments made by Debretsion and Wedi Werede. How can any decent person defend such a disgrace in a leader?

A straightforward, honest response could have significantly helped resolve the issues the TPLF leadership has with Patriotic Tegrawot if only that party had been honest and transparent. Instead of engaging in mudslinging with critics, the TPLF supporters and retired ambassadors should take steps to assure Tigray citizens that there is no secrecy involved. Transparency is crucial—the people of Tigray have the right to know what is being negotiated and agreed upon by the TPLF with the genocidal regime in Eritrea.

Nothing can dispel the well-founded accusations and distrust among Tegrawot regarding Debretsion and his associates’ actions in defending and maintaining Tigray’s territorial integrity. Should it be a surprise to anyone that Tegrawot generally mistrusts the rogue general’s patriotism or commitment to protect Tigray’s vital interests?

Let me emphasize the urgent need to understand the extent of the harm inflicted on Tigray by Debretsion and his colleagues through the newly formed alliance called Tsemedo. Whether I’m discussing corruption or treason, recognizing what truly happened in our history is enlightening and frees us from a life burdened by years of lies and distortions. We do not need to fight desperately to prove which party committed the most atrocities or acts of treason.

My article aims to clarify how history has been distorted by a deeply divided, highly polarizing group, including its elites and supporters. I envision a better Tigray that everyone can embrace, one that differs from the self-promoting groups’ views. This inspiring vision of a strong Tigray should motivate us all. The concept of a glorious Tigray is worth witnessing and working towards as a future goal.

To remove the TPLF from power, there is no option but to form an alliance of opposition parties! It seems there is a hint to do so now. There is no need to fear my writing or distort both the written word and the spirit of my articles. Nor is there a need to throw a tantrum publicly. A well-constructed challenge is energizing for us all, and I welcome such discourse.

I honestly and sincerely shared my informed views on leadership, how Debretsion and his political party betrayed us, and how our history, as an ancient and valuable people, was tarnished by his falsification of our past.
