[By Teferi Hailemichael]
During a shameful Zoom meeting, Feseha Asgedom, the former TPLF ambassador, revealed his long-standing support for a narrow cause that harmed the people of Tigray. I listened carefully afterward and was deeply shocked by his unwarranted arrogance and treasonous admissions, stating that ‘We should declare that he [Abiy] has invalidated the Pretoria Agreement’ (ንውዕል ፕሪቶርያ ከምዘፍረሶ ንእውጅ).
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing was coming from a sane person, and I had to hear it multiple times to ensure it wasn’t an illusion. It’s both surreal and infuriating to listen to the rambling of a degenerate mind that seems to have lost all sense of where he truly belongs when making such treasonous remarks.
As the former ambassador, he should know better about the value of diplomacy and peace agreements. He has destroyed Tigray’s chance of winning the Pretoria peace process and has implicated Tigray as a war-loving region in the eyes of the international community from far away, residing in the USA, not in Tigray. Feseha has trashed Tigray’s chance of its diplomacy and advocacy avenues. Ultimately, his disgraceful declaration to invalidate the Pretoria peace agreement will isolate Tigray from its diplomatic and advocacy efforts.
I was horrified by his boastful account of backing war and calling to strengthen the alliance with the genocidal regime of Eritrea and Fano, which brought immense suffering to the people of Tigray. After hearing his declarations and intentions, any remaining respect I had for Feseha and his associates vanished.
I wonder if we are truly ruled by such treasonous individuals who used heroic TDF fighters as cannon fodder to carry out their twisted and destructive political power. This shows how far the TPLF leadership and its loyalists like Feseha have already forgotten the atrocity crimes committed by the despicable and brutal regime of Eritrea and Fano, trusting those genocidaires as allies. Now it is pretty clear that the treacherous TPLF leadership, the above core mercenary generals, and the conspirator Feseha are working tirelessly to invalidate the Pretoria peace agreement, plunge Tigray into another war, and destroy what’s left of Tigray.
The former ambassador’s statements during his Zoom meeting clearly affirmed that the TPLF leadership and its above core warlord generals are outright enemies of Tigray; no other group, not even the genocidaire regime of Eritrea, Fano, and PP, causes as much harm as them. They have destroyed the unity of Tigray. They have dishonoured, humiliated and betrayed the people of Tigray. They have played down the Tigray genocide. They are prolonging the suffering of IDPs.
I bitterly regret supporting such a corrupt, unpatriotic group of visionless individuals and treacherous mercenaries, whose damage to Tigray will affect the present and future generations. They have misled many well-meaning heroic TDF fighters, the diaspora and patriotic people of Tigray, especially right after the brutal genocide war. Our pain, suffering, and hope for Tigray’s future blinded us to the monsters who entered our midst, disguised as liberators. The healing of Tigray will take several generations. Likewise, the punishment for those leaders should also be passed down through generations in the history to remember their treacherous actions.
It is shocking to learn from Fisseha’s words to declare the Pretoria Agreement dead, which exposes the sinister motive of TPLF, whose status was revoked by the Ethiopian Election Board. It is quite heartbreaking how individuals like Debretsion, Fetlework, General Megbey and the former Ambassador Feseha have damaged the justice and accountability for the Tigray genocide.
The truth is that Ambassador Feseha and his fellow conspirators within the TPLF leadership knew the flaws in their plan well. They also understood that with Eritrea involved, the TPLF would dominate Tigray entirely and govern with an iron fist. The TPLF flow plan may end up being evicted from Tigray for good in the same way as it was evicted from Addis Ababa in 2018.
This is a call to all Tigrayans, who may still feel residual sympathy for the TPLF and its leaders, to completely reject the TPLF leadership, its toxic ideas and harmful ideology. Now, we all have a clear understanding of both the TPLF and the former Ambassador Feseha, so there is no reason to support or sympathize with such traitors and mercenaries, who want to turn Tigray into a war zone to fulfil their personal interests and protect the genocidal regime of Eritrea.
This is a betrayal beyond anyone’s imagination. The above core generals turn the genocidal war into wealth for themselves. They are merchants of death. The people of Tigray must understand that the TPLF leadership and the above core warlord generals are only struggling for their power and personal interests to protect the accumulated wealth they have stolen from the public.
The people of Tigray must also understand the TPLF will not bring any coherent solutions to Tigray except more destruction and loss of lives. Instead, the Tigrayan people must stand for their survival and look forward to a peaceful life without the TPLF.
This is a call to the courageous people of Tigray who are deceived into thinking they serve Tigray—it’s time to wake up and see the truth: they are being exploited by treacherous TPLF leadership and warlord generals who have no loyalty to Tigray and its people. Rebelling against these treacherous leaders is a noble act of heroism and patriotism. The people of Tigray have a common enemy within our beloved homeland: the TPLF leadership, above the core warlord generals, and others like the former Ambassador Feseha Asgedom.
